Columbus in Cleveland: Columbus Brewing Co. now on tap

The craft brewing scene is exploding across the Buckeye State, and we want to help you discover some of the best beers Ohio has to offer. Starting this month, we’re partnering with one of the state’s oldest breweries– Columbus Brewing Company! Just like The Rail, they’re all about exploring and trying new flavors of American Hop using several ingredients which are harvested locally.

Located in central Ohio’s Brewery District, Columbus Brewing Company was originally founded in 1830, but in 1988, the name of the brewery was once again chosen to resurrect the heritage of its namesake. Since then, they’ve been leading the way in craft beer world by producing unique world class beers.

In 2015, Eric and Beth Bean, the owners of CBC, took on a whole new mission: expanding their business. The Beans purchased the former Hill Distributing Co. building on Columbus’s west side, which took the brewery to an entirely new level. The pair put $5 million into the 50,000 square foot building to reinvent their business. They purchased German-made brewing equipment, four 120-barrell fermentation tanks and a bottling line machine capable of filling 1,000 cases in four hours - a much faster pace compared to the equipment they’d traditionally used. The best part of it all? They were able to make a lot more beer!

During our seasonal brewery partnership, you can enjoy four of CBC’s brews at The Rail, including a limited release:

Columbus IPA - Available on tap at Strongsville, North Olmsted, Akron, Canton & Dublin locations

Grasshoppa Session Pale Ale- Available on tap at Strongsville, North Olmsted, Canton & Dublin locations

Bodhi Double IPA - - Available on tap at Strongsville, North Olmsted, Akron, Canton & Dublin locations

The Rail Red Lager {Brewed Exclusively for The Rail!} - Available on tap at Strongsville, North Olmsted, Akron, Canton & Dublin locations.

The Red Lager is around 4.8% ABV and is slightly hoppy. It’s considered an easy-drinking beer that pairs well with a burger and fries.

Now through the end of June, take advantage of our Ohio Brewery Partnership with featured $10 beer flights daily and $10 Columbus Brewing Growler Fills every Thursday and Friday! Plus, if you're looking to learn even more about the brewery, check out our upcoming Ohio Beer School gatherings with Columbus Brewing Co. in April for North Olmsted, in May for Akron, and in June for Canton, Strongsville and Dublin. We'll drink to that!
